Laura Eaton is the founder of Wedologie and has been active in the wedding industry for over a decade.
The first wedding platform created by wedding professionals for wedding professionals…
I recently announced on Facebook that I was no longer pursuing wedding photography and quite a few people were surprised. While I desperately loved sharing in my client’s happiest day and building my business over the last 12 years, it was time to find a new challenge.
Wedologie has been a long time in the making, I’ve been working the last few years creating something that will change the wedding industry in a positive way. I started by establishing Soiree Philadelphia. I left my studio to rebrand as “Soiree” and launched the first (not co-working) shared space for creative professionals in the Philadelphia area. Five years later, we have an amazing collective of talented professionals, and we are still growing.
I started hosting small business roundtables to really connect and find out what challenges are the most troubling for entrepreneurs. I learned as much from the attendees as they learned from each other, and hopefully from me. This lead me to understanding how much we need a support system to help us grow, personally and professionally.
This is why Wedologie is going to start slow and evolve, but I want to be clear about my intentions. Eventually, I want Wedologie to revolutionize the way wedding professionals connect with clients, but there is lots to be done on the way. First and foremost, Wedologie will be a free resource, full of advice on branding, marketing, SEO and more. We will highlight the professionals who are making positive changes and affecting the industry in the best ways possible. We will grow a community that allows professionals to connect in new ways and build strong relationships.
There will be no room for negativity and naysayers. No doomsday predictions about the future of weddings, weddings aren’t going anywhere, but they are constantly changing. Wedologie will provide you with the tools you need to be ahead of the trends and challenges.
I hope you will join me as we build Wedologie into a positive force for our industry.
In 2003 she started Laura Eaton Photography and enjoyed tremendous success with her studio in Philadelphia, and photographed weddings around the world. Her destination weddings included France, Italy, Mexico and the Carribean. Laura has taken a step back from shooting weddings in recent years, to shift her photography focus to headshots, which compliments her small business consulting – www.philadelphiaheadshot.com and www.headshotnewyorkcity.com
From 2008-2012, Laura became an event producer when she launched the yearly Soiree in the City event- a bridal & style event that connected discerning brides-to-be with the best in Philadelphia weddings & style. This was one of the first events to deviate from the standard “bridal show” presentation and create an event with interactive elements, gourmet food, craft cocktails & more.
In 2010, Laura founded Soiree Philadelphia. Soiree is a collective of creative professionals who share a meeting and event space in beautiful Old City Philadelphia. Laura saw a need in the industry for a space that would allow different professionals to meet with clients, host events and have a place of business in the city of Philadelphia – without the traditional expense that typically comes with a studio or boutique space.
Over the last five years, Soiree Philadelphia has expanded and welcomed a diverse group of creative professionals, including photographers, stylists, designers and more.
With the development of Soiree, Laura has also taken on the role of being a small business expert for the wedding industry. Having built several successful businesses over the last decade, Laura understands what it takes to create sustainability that last through the changing trends, both in style and economics.
Laura is now taking this knowledge and applying it to her Wedologie.com. The goal for Wedologie is to create a platform to elevate the events industry through education – and later evolving into a platform that will reinvent the way professionals and couples connect.
Laura is available to speak at tradeshows & industry events. She has presented several times for the Italian album company, Graphistudi0 at PhotoPlus Expo in New York City and in Philadelphia. Laura is an expert in headshot photography, branding & marketing and business development.
